john cermenaro

John Cermenaro, Product Development Engineer for the Rogers Drum Co. towards the end of its historic run as one of America’s most celebrated and innovative drum companies, will be on hand to meet attendees during the upcoming Las Vegas Drum Show, Sunday, March 29 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Tuscany Suites & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As the head of product development for Rogers drums and hardware from 1980 to 1984, the era of the “Big R” badge, XP-8® maple drums and MemriLoc® hardware, John was responsible for creating new, wood-shell versions of Rogers’ classic Dynasonic® and Super Ten® snare drums: the highly popular and collectible 5”, 6.5” and 8” x 14” XP-10® Maple models.

He was also involved in production, marketing and artist relations—working with top endorsers Gina Schock (The GoGos), Rod Morgenstein (Dixie Dregs, Winger), Ron Tutt (Elvis Presely) and David Garibaldi (Tower Of Power)—while with the company.

John left Rogers in 1984 when its parent company, CBS Musical Instruments, began shutting down drum production at its Fullerton, CA headquarters. CBS sold its musical instrument holdings, including Fender and Rogers, in 1985. At the time, Rogers had been making drums for more than 135 years and was the oldest major drum company in the US. Much of the John’s story is documented in “The Rogers Book” written by renowned drum historian, Rob Cook. He currently resides in Las Vegas and plays drums with local blues band, Dr. Harpo & The Ace Tones.

John will be at the TRX Cymbals, Cympad and Sonic ReVision booths (#4, 5 and 6) during the Las Vegas Drum Show. Stop by to say hello and hang out. Visit www.lasvegasdrumshow.com for complete details.
